Stamford and Bourne Learning Disability Service

Service provided: Service user transportation

TransLinc Stamford and Bourne Learning Disability Service servuce user transportTransLinc has provided service user transportation for Stamford and Bourne Learning Disability Service for a number of years. When Lincolnshire County Council changed the service, TransLinc adapted its transport provision to match.

Stamford and Bourne Learning Disability Service provides an outsource service for residents in and around Stamford and Bourne who have learning disabilities. Historically, TransLinc’s role was to carry multiple passengers between their homes and a day care centre. After a reassessment of the service users’ needs, the provision of daily care was fragmented from one unit for many, to several smaller day care centres which would provide more specialist care and support based on the needs of the specific service user.

As a result TransLinc’s transport offering to Stamford and Bourne Learning Disability Service has adapted to reflect the new provision. We now utilise an increased number of smaller vehicles to support the smaller service users groups.

The communication between all parties involved has also very important, with TransLinc drivers and personal assistants engaging with Stamford and Bourne Learning Disability Service and Lincolnshire County Council Transport Services Group to identify and resolve areas of concern which arise from carrying specific service users.

When a problem is identified, TransLinc, in conjunction with an appropriate risk assessment where applicable, can report to the Transport Services Group with its recommendations on service improvements for that specific service user.
