Lincoln City Council Xmas Markets

Service Provided: Shuttle bus service
Fleet Size: Seven vehicles from 16 seat minibuses to 26/33 seat midi coaches and 49/53 seat coaches.

Lincoln City Council runs a Xmas market in the city each year for four days in early December. We provide the shuttle bus service which meets two requirements. The first involves us moving disabled persons and their friends/relatives outside of Lincoln into the city and the second ferrying coach drivers from the coach parking area to and from the Xmas market site.

We use anything from 16 seat minibuses to 53 seat coaches which carry over 2,500 people over the four day period. All restricted mobility visitors are transported in wheelchair accessible vehicles with non slip floors, grab handles and wheelchair fixing points.

A great deal of emphasis has to be put on Health and Safety due to the 160,000 people attending the Xmas Market in some very narrow streets. We plan routes in association with the police, the local council and the security offices.

We also set up a chain of command which involves on-site supervision and 24-hour liaison with Lincoln City Council’s events officer to ensure everything runs smoothly. The additional support of our workshops in Lincoln ensures we can address any mechanical or maintenance issues quickly and efficiently.
