TransLinc teams up with May Gurney to supply 53 commercials to Lincolnshire County Council
Local authority fleet vehicle provider TransLinc has agreed terms with May Gurney to supply 53 vehicles in a new contract with Lincolnshire County Council’s Highways division.
The contract hire with maintenance agreement is for 49 Mitsubishi Canter 7C18, 7.5-tonne box vans and three-way tippers and 4 Mercedes-Benz Axor 1824, 18-tonne 3-way tippers. Vehicle delivery started in April.
Typically, the commercials will be used to repair roads, dropped kerbs, potholes, remove fallen trees and clear up after accidents and emergencies – all essential day-to-day maintenance work. A percentage of the vehicles will be fitted with hydraulic cranes to assist with heavy lifting tasks.
All vehicles are equipped with Cybit trackers, chosen less from a security point of view and more with works management in mind. The trackers ensure vehicles can be quickly dispatched close to the job, which makes for a more efficient operation with added environmental benefits and fuel saving. “We can call up the information on the tracker and get the vehicle to the destination in the shortest possible time,” says Tom Fitchew, May Gurney’s Commercial Fleet Manager.
“The relationship with May Gurney is a new venture for us,” says Mark Werrell, Director of Midlands Operations, from TransLinc, “although we have been in talks with them for at least two years. It is a partnership with a bright future.”
