TransLinc helps London Borough of Hounslow meets Low Emission Zone standards
TransLinc, the leading local authority fleet provider, is supplying 38 vehicles to the London Borough of Hounslow to help it build a cleaner, greener vehicle fleet.
The new Euro IV and Euro V-compliant vehicles will replace existing mini-buses and HGVs and help the authority meet new regulations governing London’s Low Emission Zone* that are due to come into force in 2012.
Part of a £1.7m vehicle replacement programme, TransLinc is supplying them on five and seven-year contract hire agreements, with maintenance carried out by the London Borough of Hounslow in its in-house workshops. They will start to be delivered at the beginning of June.
Rod Willis, Transport Operation Manager for Hounslow, said: “These new vehicles will help us to cut our fleet emissions in line with London LEZ standards, while also improving reliability and reducing operating costs.
“We put the job out to tender and were impressed by TransLinc’s overall professionalism, service and pricing, which is why we were delighted to award this contract to them.”
The 38 vehicles include eight LCV tippers based on Ford Transit chassis, plus nine Mercedes 515CDi Treka minibuses and six Iveco Plug Door minibuses, which are wheelchair accessible and will be used for Social Services Department transport.
The remaining 15 Iveco vehicles will be used for highways maintenance and road cleaning duties, and include tippers and flatbeds with on-board compressors, and a sweeper. Of these, 11 are Euro IV compliant and the remainder meet the very latest Euro V emissions standards.
