TransLinc delivers first fleet vehicles to Cheshire East Council

TransLinc, the UK’s leading provider of local authority fleet vehicles and passenger services, has supplied Cheshire East Council with its first refuse collection vehicle.

The Mercedes Econic 2629LL 6x4 chassis with Dennis Eagle Phoenix 2 body will be serving residents of the newly created Cheshire East Council, the third largest council in the North West, which brings together the former Cheshire County Council with the boroughs of Macclesfield, Congleton, Crewe and Nantwich.

The vehicle is fitted with Terberg bin lifts and Banksman Plus Intelligent Radar, which monitors the area behind the vehicle and automatically applies the brakes if it detects any risk of collision during reversing manoeuvres with pedestrians or personnel. To ensure it remains visible to other traffic in all weather conditions, the vehicle also features four LED beacons, high and low level rear lights and LED side markers.

It will be used for general refuse collection duties and will feature the council’s new livery. It has been supplied on a six year contract hire with maintenance agreement and will be maintained by TransLinc’s Stockport workshop.

TransLinc will also deliver a second RCV – a Dennis Eagle Elite 2 with Phoenix 2 body – to Cheshire East Council later in April.

Paul Clare, TransLinc’s Fleet Sales Consultant, said: “Our existing partnership with Congleton Borough Council and Macclesfield Borough Council stretches back as far as 2000 and we currently supply them with almost 150 vehicles across a variety of sectors, including transport for neigbourhood wardens and dog wardens, plus street cleaning, recycling services and refuse collection.

“We’re delighted to be supplying the very first fleet vehicles to the newly formed Cheshire East Council and look forward to working closely with them in future to keep services running smoothly for local residents.”

Bernard Franchetti, Transport Manager at Cheshire East Council, said: “These RCVs will play a key role in delivering an essential service that benefits almost 360,000 residents across our region.

“It is another milestone in the launch of our new local authority and we’re very grateful for the advice, support and service we have received from TransLinc.”
