TransLinc offers Peterborough City Council special educational needs transport services

TransLinc, the UK’s leading provider of fleet management and passenger services, has supplied four Citroen Relay 2.2litre HDi mini-buses – in 12-seat and 16-seat configuration – to PCC on a five year contract hire with maintenance agreement to support the transport requirements of local schools.

The vehicles will operate daily to carry children with special educational needs to and from four schools within the PCC district. TransLinc has over 20 years experience in providing specialist passenger services and recommended the type of training and support the council would require. It has managed the appointment and training of all staff operating the route and will manage the route logistics from a new base within the city.

Each vehicle has been assigned a highly trained driver and support worker to manage the needs of the children using the service. Operatives have completed a comprehensive driver and support worker training and have undergone the required legal checks to ensure the highest standard of service is provided throughout every journey. Each crew will operate on the same route daily, enabling a rapport to be built with the children using the service.

TransLinc has teamed up with Imperial Commercials, Peterborough to implement the required infrastructure to manage the vehicles and to set up a base for its staff operating the route. TransLinc will utilise back office and parking facilities at the Peterborough site and Imperial commercials will undertake all servicing and maintenance for the four mini-buses.

Sara Thompson, Team Manager, Passenger Transport Operations for PCC said: “We were impressed with the proposition from TransLinc, particularly the quality of vehicles to be provided and their commitment to ensuring that all staff undertake comprehensive and regular training programmes. We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from children using the route in the coming months.”

Margaret Serna, Passenger Services Director for TransLinc said: “TransLinc has a strong pedigree in the area of providing specialist passenger services, and effective fleet vehicles. We ensure that all our staff undergo extensive training to ensure that users of the service have the best possible experience. “Working in Peterborough has also enabled us to extend our work with Imperial Commercials. TransLinc currently have an extremely successful partnership with its Doncaster branch and hope this will extend to Peterborough.”
