Congratulations to East Lindsey District Council.

Local Authority fleet service provider TransLinc, has helped long-term customer, East Lindsey District Council reach the top of the National Recycling league by providing a host of RCVs (Refuse Collection Vehicles) to support its extensive recycling initiatives launched in June 2006.

East Lindsey has made a staggering jump of 258 places in the annual Defra recycling league table since 2006 and now recycles over 58% of all waste. This achievement was possible thanks to the introduction of a new collection system, coupled with extensive investment in the latest collection equipment, provided by TransLinc and the commitment of its local residents.

TransLinc has been providing vehicles across all areas of East Lindsey District Council since 2002 and currently supplies its entire Refuse Collection fleet, comprising 26 large RCVs and a range of smaller support vehicles.  Both Mercedes Benz and Dennis Eagle models are in operation in the area and were purchased specifically to handle the introduction of a three-bin collection system for all households, involving the introduction of separate wheelie bins for general waste, food waste and recyclable materials such as paper, plastics and glass.

Dave Overton, Regional Sales Manager for TransLinc said; “We would like to congratulate the team at East Lindsey for their achievement. TransLinc has worked closely with the recycling team at the council since 2006, to improve its waste collection infrastructure and reduce the amount of waste deposited in the local landfill sites by almost 30%. We will continue providing the district with the latest vehicles with a view to increasing the level of recycling even further.”

Leader of the council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson said: "This is fantastic news and a ringing endorsement of the efforts of our residents. Homes across the district have really embraced recycling and the fact that we now lead the country shows just how exceptional our residents are. The help of a fleet provider such as TransLinc is invaluable for the continued development of our recycling activity."

TransLinc provides fleet services to 45 local authorities nationwide, including the best recycling county for the past two years, North Kesteven District Council. Although it was narrowly pipped into third position for this year’s list, North Kesteven was the first county to introduce split waste recycling and has just taken delivery of five new Mercedes Econic 26T 6x4 Phoenix RCVs, provided by TransLinc, to boost its current fleet.
