Macclesfield Borough Council

Services provided: A single source contract hire with maintenance solution for a mixed fleet of 350 vehicles that allowed Macclesfield Borough Council to release land for redevelopment.

TransLinc’s ability to provide a single source solution for vehicle supply and maintenance provision were the main reasons for Macclesfield awarding TransLinc a seven year Contract Hire and Maintenance contract in 2004.

TransLinc took over responsibility for a diverse fleet of 350 vehicles, including vans, trucks, 4x4s, grounds maintenance equipment and refuse collection vehicles, plus some items of plant. In addition, we also took over responsibility for two maintenance facilities, from which 4 members of staff had their contract transferred to TransLinc under TUPE regulations.

With their existing main workshop underperforming and located in a residential area, Macclesfield Borough Council recognised that moving and upgrading the maintenance facility would improve the service to the fleet and release the land for redevelopment.

TransLinc have been able to deliver Macclesfield Borough Councils maintenance requirement by utilising our service centre facility close by in Stockport.

Part of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Councils full outsource solution, the Stockport service centre was specifically opened and equipped by TransLinc to maximise fleet maintenance service levels to the council.

As a result Macclesfield Borough Council are now able to take advantage of longer opening hours, increased staffing levels and improved, up to date equipment without increasing the cost of the service.
