History
Originally part of Lincolnshire County Council, TransLincs Local Authority roots have given it an intimate understanding of the challenges facing the public sector today.
As far back as 1974, a transport division was running inside Lincolnshire County Council which provided contract hire with maintenance to the entire LCC vehicle fleet.
This service was offered to other Local Authorities in 1984, enabling them to draw on the experience of the Lincolnshire County Council team.
In 1991, the organisation integrated LCC’s Social Services and Education passenger carrying function into the operation and adopted the name TransLinc
1998 saw a management and employee buy out, which allowed the new organisation to build on its solid foundations with key contract wins awarded by Chesterfield Borough Council and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and the award of ISO 9002 accreditation.
Since that time, TransLinc has gone from strength to strength, winning contracts with 45 local authority clients to supply over 3,500 vehicle and items of plant.
In addition, the Passenger Services side of the business now boasts its own fleet of coaches and mini buses and carries approximately 4,000 passengers a day.
A new chapter has just been opened in the history of TransLinc, with a management buy in/buy out in June 2007. Backed by a major UK funding institution, TransLinc is now looking forward to the next 30 years and beyond.
